A profound wave of grief has swept through Livadeia following the tragic death of a 35-year-old mother just days after delivering her second child. Her funeral is set to take place today (27 June 2026) at the Church of Saint Nicholas on the beach of Distomo, where family and friends will gather to bid a final farewell.

A Sudden and Devastating Loss

The young woman had undergone a scheduled cesarean section at Livadeia General Hospital on Wednesday, 24 June 2026. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy—the couple’s second child, following their 8-year-old son. Tragically, complications arose shortly after delivery, leading to uncontrolled postpartum hemorrhage. Despite medical intervention, she passed away.

A Husband’s Raw Grief and Vow for Answers

In a deeply emotional Facebook post, her husband shared his anguish and unwavering love: “I won’t stop until I know the full truth about what happened. My love for you didn’t end today.”

His message—addressed to his late wife as “my star”—is both tender and resolute. He pledged to raise their two children with the same love, values, and warmth she embodied, vowing to be both father and mother in her absence. He also promised to pursue answers relentlessly: “If even the smallest mistake or negligence occurred, I will fight with all my strength to see justice served—for you, for our children, and for the love we lived.”

“Goodbye, my star… Until we meet again, I’ll carry you with me every day. You will always be the love of my life. I love you today, tomorrow, and forever.”

Background and Circumstances

The woman, identified only by her initials B.M., lived with her husband and older son in Antikyra. She was admitted to Livadeia Hospital for childbirth and delivered safely before rapidly deteriorating. She was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but ultimately could not be saved.

This tragedy echoes recent national concerns over maternal health safety, coming just days after another young mother—a doctor from Mytilene—died less than 24 hours after giving birth.
