An inconceivable incident of domestic violence occurred in the , where a woman activated her cell phone at the moment of emergency the police responded with… delay. The wife’s ex – husband has abused her many times but has also threatened her new mate. In fact, she has often denounced her abuser to the police in Lesvos, but as she argues “she goes to court, is convicted, leaves and continues as if nothing is going on”, while it seems that the panic button did not serve in time in her case. Both she and her lawyer are now wondering if four convictions and 58 months of sentence are not enough to punish someone what else they have to suffer. Panagos Koufelos, the victim’s lawyer noted: “The perpetrator is unpunished, sentenced 4 times and remains free”. The woman has reported her ex-husband four times. He even said that: “He had raised a hand when I was pregnant.” The perpetrator is released, leaving the victim to live in fear within the small community of the island. “He curses me, spits me out in court all the time. He is threatening with wood and my new partner,” he stressed speaking the Live News show. According to her in the most recent incident, she had installed and activated the panic button but authorities responded 31 minutes later, calling her on the phone and asking if she was just all right.
