The 35-year-old victim continues to be hospitalized after surviving 18 stab wounds allegedly inflicted by a 32-year-old man during a festival in Mytilene. The partner of the accused has now spoken out exclusively to Live News, offering an alternative version of events and denying the presence of a knife during the altercation.
“There was no knife,” she stated. “I have ten stitches on my left foot—was that done with the knife too? The fight didn’t start over any woman, not me, not his ex. We were all fine until the baby started crying. I was holding the child on my lap when he said three times that it was tired and should go home to sleep.” She added that the disagreement began because the child needed rest, and tensions escalated from there.
The accused’s lawyer, Panagos Koufelos, also claimed there is evidence supporting the absence of a weapon. “My client’s account, backed by witnesses and evidence, proves there was no knife involved,” he said. The 32-year-old will appear before the investigating judge on Thursday (03.07.2025) to give his statement, maintaining that the chaos stemmed from a scuffle involving multiple people and broken glasses.
Meanwhile, the victim’s brother described the attack as brutal: “He pulled out a knife and stabbed him 18 times—not once or twice, but 18. How is my brother alive right now? They’ve given him four blood transfusions. He nearly died from blood loss.” The mother of the victim recounted how she learned of the incident only after her son failed to return home.
This tragic case has shocked the local community, raising questions about violence at public gatherings and the judicial process that will follow.
