in

Areas in southern Lebanon were heavily bombed by the Israeli military starting Saturday morning (22.03.2025), responding to rocket fire from previous days. Two people were killed and eight injured in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, as Israel targeted cities there in response to a barrage of rockets fired into its territory from across the border, according to the national news agency NNA, citing the Lebanese Health Ministry. The agency reported a storm of Israeli airstrikes and artillery barrages in southern Lebanon, including border towns approximately 8 km inside Lebanese territory. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) expressed concern over the violence at the border in a written statement. “Any further escalation in this volatile situation could have serious consequences for the region,” it stated. Earlier, the Israeli army announced that it was attacking Hezbollah targets today (22.03.2025) after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered strikes against dozens of ‘terror’ targets in Lebanon. “Responding to rocket fire into Israel this morning, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz instructed the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) to act forcefully against dozens of terror targets in Lebanon,” Netanyahu said in a statement. Shortly after Netanyahu’s statement, the Israeli army announced it was striking Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.
