The 50-year-old woman who was sexually assaulted on a beach in Lavrio recounted the terrifying incident to police, stating that the 26-year-old Turkish suspect attacked her by grabbing her throat. Nineteen days have passed since the traumatic event, and the victim is still recovering from the ordeal. With a clear mind, she tried to remember every detail to help authorities identify and arrest the man accused of sexually assaulting her.

According to her statement, the woman was sunbathing at the ‘Nisaki’ beach near her home when the suspect approached her around 10:00 AM. He asked her a question and then suddenly attacked her before she could respond. She reportedly fainted while trying to escape his grasp. When she regained consciousness, she realized her bikini bottom was missing, and her mobile phone had also disappeared.

Without hesitation, she went to the Lavrio Police Station to report the incident and later visited the Lavrio Health Center for first aid. She was subsequently transferred to Gennimatas Hospital, where a forensic doctor orally informed police of injuries consistent with sexual assault.

Police managed to identify the suspect from a fingerprint found on the woman’s phone, which he had stolen and later discarded on the same beach. He was arrested near the Thiseio Hellenic Electric Railways (HSAP) station. During questioning, the perpetrator admitted to the crime, and it was revealed that he had previously committed a similar offense.

In 2016, at the age of 17, he was arrested and imprisoned for rape. He was released from prison in November 2024, and seven months later, he once again turned another woman’s life into a nightmare.
