An unprecedented incident occurred last Sunday (28.06.2026) on a suburban train traveling from Thessaloniki to Larissa. Around 9 p.m., several minors boarded the train at the Neoi Poroi suburban railway station — a stop where the carriage was already crowded with passengers.
Microphone Misuse and Verbal Abuse
According to a passenger complaint from Larissa, some of the minors discovered the public address system inside one of the carriages and began using it to shout vulgar and offensive phrases over the intercom. Reported utterances included obscenities directed at all passengers, as well as crude, mocking announcements about the next stop.
Staff Inaction Draws Criticism
The disruptive behavior reportedly continued for the remainder of the journey — all the way to Larissa. One female passenger attempted to file a formal complaint, asking why train staff did not contact emergency services (dialing 100, Greece’s national emergency number). She was allegedly told by staff that they were unable to intervene or take any action.
