A friend of the 42-year-old suspect detained for the murder of a 59-year-old businessman and father of three in Lamia revealed that the accused had previously attempted arson on an acquaintance’s car. Speaking to newsit.gr, the friend described the suspect as someone who ‘ignited’ easily and had troubled relationships with others. “Some time ago, he tried to set fire to a friend’s car by placing matches inside,” the friend stated, adding that the suspect had clashed with authorities in the past due to similar incidents. The man appeared before a prosecutor on June 24, 2025, requesting additional time to prepare his defense until the upcoming Friday, June 27. According to lamiareport.gr, the accused arrived at the Lamia courthouse hunched over and wearing a medical mask covering most of his face. The friend noted that the suspect’s personality underwent significant changes after losing both parents within a short period. “When he lost his father, his psychology worsened, and he became more introverted. Then, 40 days ago, he also lost his mother, which drastically altered his character. He told a mutual friend, ‘Now that my mom is gone, nothing holds me back anymore,’” the source explained. Despite efforts from friends to help him find temporary work, the suspect remained isolated and reportedly never dated.
