Lamia: Man Sentenced to Jail for Brutally Beating Partner in the Street

On Monday, June 30, 2025, a 40-year-old man was sentenced to one year in prison without suspension by the Lamia Misdemeanor Court. On June 27, he brutally attacked his 35-year-old partner in the middle of the street, injuring her. According to reports from lamiareport.gr, last Friday at Agias Paraskevis Street in Galaneika, Lamia, the 40-year-old Romani man allegedly punched and kicked the woman in the head and ribs. He was arrested the following day (June 28, 2025) by Rapid Response officers and appeared before the Summary Court on Sunday, June 29. He faced charges of dangerous bodily harm and threats. He was found guilty of the first charge, while the second was dismissed due to lack of bail payment. The defendant was sent to prison as his appeal does not have suspensive effect.
