Concern is growing in Phthiotis following back-to-back viper incidents, as another person has been admitted to Lamia General Hospital after being bitten by the venomous snake. This time, the victim was a 75-year-old man from the municipality of Kammena Vourla.

The viper attacked suddenly while the elderly man was at home attempting to move a concrete slab—unaware that the snake was hiding beneath it. He remained calm and was rushed immediately to Lamia, where doctors administered antivenom serum, according to Lamiareport.gr.

The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, causing alarm across the local community. Medical staff deemed it necessary to admit him to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for precautionary monitoring. His health condition is now described as stable, with no immediate danger to his life.

Meanwhile, there is positive news regarding a second case: a 58-year-old man who had also been bitten by a viper in recent days has been discharged from the ICU and is recovering well.
