The fire that erupted in Penteli last August had unique characteristics compared to other similar disasters, as it extended beyond natural areas into the urban grid of the Penteli Municipality, causing extensive damage to both the environment and infrastructure. One of the most dangerous spots was identified on Alexandros Panagoulis Street, where the flames dangerously approached a stream near a school complex, jeopardizing the safety of children who pass there daily. In response, LAMDA Development acted swiftly under its Corporate Social Responsibility framework, providing substantial assistance in restoring and enhancing the area’s safety. To eliminate the risk of accidents at a location where hundreds of children and residents pass daily, which became extremely hazardous after the fire, the company installed a protective fence stretching 280 meters along the stream, ensuring pedestrian safety. Additionally, LAMDA proceeded with another significant initiative by installing 18 air conditioning units in the classrooms of the local high school and lyceum, improving daily learning conditions. For environmental restoration, LAMDA Development undertook reforestation efforts in two areas: the Panagoulis stream and the Agios Nikolaos grove, adjacent to the Crystal Municipal Penteli. On March 7, in the presence of Mayor Natasia Kosmopoulou, Regional Governor Nikos Hardalias, and LAMDA’s Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, Sissy Heliopoulou, students planted trees in the area, also committing to their upkeep. With a strong sense of responsibility and unwavering commitment to corporate principles, LAMDA Development remains steadfast alongside society, actively contributing to improving citizens’ quality of life and supporting affected local communities through tangible actions. At LAMDA, care means action!
