Deep sorrow has engulfed the community of Skala following the death of a 15-year-old girl in a tragic car accident that occurred on Sunday afternoon (March 23, 2025). The vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a drainage canal, resulting in the teenager’s death and injuries to her parents. Authorities are investigating whether the young girl was driving at the time of the incident. Emergency services rushed to the scene and extracted the unconscious teenager from the wreckage, where it is believed she was trapped by her seatbelt. The injured parents were transported to the hospital for treatment. Speaking to newsit.gr, the mayor of Skala, Georgios Boufidis, described the family as ‘the best family in Skala.’ He recounted that around 5 PM, the family had been taking a drive when the car fell from a bridge and flipped over during its descent. ‘The girl couldn’t escape; she was likely trapped by her seatbelt,’ he stated.
