A new round of consultations with social partners begins today (23.06.2025) by the Ministry of Labor, focusing on the upcoming labor bill titled ‘Simplification of Labor Legislation, Strengthening of Workers and Health and Safety at Work.’ The dialogue starts with the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) and will be followed by meetings with the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE), the General Confederation of Self-Employed and Merchants of Greece (GSEVEE), the Hellenic Tourism Enterprises Association (SETe), and the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SBEE). The proposed bill aims to simplify and expedite hiring processes, reduce bureaucracy, modernize labor regulations, further protect workers’ rights, enhance health and safety at work, align with international ILO conventions, and strengthen Labor Inspection. It also includes improved social security provisions. This dialogue occurs alongside extensive consultation over the past months between the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance and national social partners regarding the improvement of Collective Labor Agreements. Minister of Labor and Social Insurance Niki Kerameos stated: ‘We are starting a new cycle of institutional but primarily substantial dialogue with all national social partners to discuss a new labor bill from the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance aimed at simplifying labor legislation, strengthening workers, and ensuring better working conditions, reinforcing workers’ rights, and responding to the demands of the modern labor market by reducing bureaucracy and modernizing labor law provisions.’
