in

On the early hours of Saturday (5.7.25), Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis attended the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Monastery of Simonopetra on Mount Athos, where he spent the night accompanied by his son Konstantinos. According to government sources, at the conclusion of the liturgy, the monks held a Trisagion service in memory of Konstantinos and Marika Mitsotaki, the parents of the Prime Minister, as well as Pavlos Bakoyannis.

The names of the Prime Minister’s parents are recorded as benefactors in the donor records of the monastery, recognizing the support provided by Konstantinos Mitsotakis following the devastating fire of 1990. Immediately after the service, the Prime Minister was officially welcomed by members of the monastic brotherhood, with a formal address delivered by the Abbot, Elder Elisseos, followed by a response from Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

In his address, the Abbot referenced the contributions of the Prime Minister’s parents, as well as Mitsotakis’ own support for Mount Athos. During the liturgy, the Prime Minister recited the Symbol of Faith and performed the prayers according to protocol. Later, Mitsotakis visited the Holy Monastery of Xenophon.
