Kyriakos Mitsotakis: The TV message about the fires

“We have given and we are still fighting with all our might but we are facing an unprecedented crisis,” the prime minister said, beginning his message by saying that more than 500 fires had broken out in a few days.

He then thanked the countries that are assisting in the firefighting efforts, while he personally apologized for the great damage left behind by the fires, emphasizing that the responsibilities will be attributed when they should and where they should.

He also noted that “those who lost homes and property will be compensated, the burned areas will be reforested and the necessary flood protection projects will be launched immediately”, giving special emphasis to Attica and Evia, for which amounts of 500,000,000 euros will be allocated.
