The national homeless football team will take part in the World Cup, which will take place from 21–28 September in Seoul, South Korea. “This is ultimately the reward of all the effort you have made. Because this route is difficult, unfortunately all stories are not success stories. That is why your example is so important for those who will follow you, that this effort is ultimately very difficult but worth it,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis pointed out. “The team is not chosen by purely football criteria but is rewarded with effort, participation, respect, consistency, commitment to our fundamental principles,” noted the coordinator of the “Goal in Poverty” campaign, in which the National Home Football Team, Christos Alefantis, was created. Kyriakos Mitsotakis had the opportunity to discuss with athletes about their personal route and the role of sport in their lives, but also to be informed about the World Cup of Hosts, in which the National Team has participated unhinderedly since 2007, having managed to win nine times, most of every other team, the Fair Play award. The National Homeless Team to participate in the Seoul World Cup consists of seven players and one player coming from the social rehabilitation program “18 ANO”. The meeting was attended by the Member of State George Stamatis and the General Secretariat of Sports George Mavrotos and Demographic and Housing Policy Konstantinos Gloumis – Atsalakis.
