The Kremlin has denied today (02.04.2025) any connection between U.S. President Donald Trump’s upcoming trip to Saudi Arabia and a potential meeting with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The Russian presidency stated categorically that Trump’s possible visit to Saudi Arabia, which could take place in the coming weeks, has “no connection” to Putin. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov emphasized that no meeting between the two leaders is currently planned. Trump had previously mentioned he might travel to Saudi Arabia as early as next month, marking his first foreign trip since returning to the White House in January. Despite earlier hints from Trump about potentially meeting Putin in Saudi Arabia, the Kremlin insists no such plans exist at this stage. Saudi Arabia continues to host negotiations regarding the Ukraine conflict. Peskov reiterated that nothing has been confirmed regarding the date or location of a potential Trump-Putin meeting. Contacts between Moscow and Washington continue through various channels, according to Peskov. Trump has approached Moscow cautiously since re-entering the White House, though tensions occasionally flare up. The last Trump-Putin meeting occurred in Helsinki, Finland, in 2018 during Trump’s previous term as U.S. president.
