It all happened on the night of 12 September, when the 18-year-old was sitting with friends in a park in the city. As he describes himself: “Together with other 2 of my friends we visited the city park of Kozani, on the night of Saturday 12 September, as we tend to do often. We were sitting next to the second in the series of fountain by the main entrance, which is in the area of the park. Around at 22:00 and while we listened to music and talked, without being aware of the existence of a snake, I felt short of something like stabbing me in the leg and in particular in the calf, but I didn’t care. An hour later and while I was in a shop in the centre of Kozani, I saw in the back of my leg bleeding as I felt and tingling. Then I remembered the time I was sitting in the park and I felt the characteristic “slam dunk” in my leg…
Together with 2 of my friends I visited the Μαμάτσειο Hospital of Kozani at 23:50. I asked the doctors exactly what is this on my foot and after seeing carefully the wound they told me that a snake is likely to aim to bite me but he missed right. So they took tweezers and I opened the 2 small holes from the fangs of the serpent which I still have in my right leg near the calf and being treated by some cream. What I want is to draw attention to the people visiting the park and especially the children who play there, sit and lie down on the ground.”
The deputy mayor of Environment. Tassopoulos said about the incident: “We are aware of the incident. This incident is an isolated incident that could happen at any point on the perimeter of the city. The city garden is really καλοσυντηÏημÎνος, the grass is very short and without any weeds. We could not have done anything to avoid it.
