On Saturday, 20 June 2026, Dimitris Koutsoumpas, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), attended events at the KNE Festival held at the Lipasmata venue in Drapetsona. There, he engaged in a direct dialogue with young people about issues affecting youth ahead of the upcoming elections.
‘Our Lives Are Not Excel’
Responding to a question about election-time proposals from other party leaders—often presented as ‘costed’ or financially itemized plans—Koutsoumpas delivered a pointed critique reflecting the KKE’s stance: ‘Our lives are not Excel.’
A clip from the exchange was shared on TikTok by the official KKE account @twra_kke, highlighting his response to claims by rival parties about ‘costed programmes’ aimed at young people—from transport subsidies to other policy interventions. ‘Run far away from those so-called costed proposals, no matter who’s making them,’ he said.
Beneath the Numbers
Koutsoumpas argued that behind the emphasis on cost calculations lies the same political logic the KKE opposes: one where financial burdens fall squarely on working people and youth, while profits remain concentrated among a small elite and powerful economic interests. ‘The cost is only for the people—and for the youth. They keep the profits for the few—the big ones, the big interests,’ he stressed.
