Kostas Bakoyannis — former mayor of Athens and reserve paratrooper commando — recently completed a refresher training program with Greece’s Special Forces and carried out two parachute jumps at Megalo Peuko Airborne Training Center.
“An Honor to Be Called, a Duty to Respond”
In a social media post accompanied by photos from the training site, Bakoyannis emphasized the civic and national significance of military reserve service. “An honor to be called, a duty to respond,” he wrote — underscoring his personal commitment to Greece’s defense framework.
He described the reserves as a vital bridge between the Hellenic Armed Forces and Greek society — not only reinforcing national defense but also fostering active citizen participation in the country’s collective effort.
Tribute to Special Forces Personnel
Bakoyannis also extended heartfelt congratulations to members of Greece’s Special Forces, praising their integrity, resilience, discipline, and unwavering dedication to mission success. “They are an example for all of us,” he added.
