Knife: A third underground lake was found – Great concern about static

A third underground, the largest of the other two identified discovered members of the team “Geomythic” in . The third underground lake in the Kifissus bed is located at the meeting point with the stream of Eshatia. They express their concern about the extent of both the bottom and the foundations of the side walls from the water. CORVERSE This lake was formed as at this point the bed was destroyed. This lake, in fact, seems to have even fish. The new information on the state of the underground tunnel comes to light after another exploration of three members of the amateur cavelogist team “Geomythiki” (Dimitris Theodosopoulos, Giannis Milos, George Kafantaris). Speaking to “Daily” the members of the “Geomythian” cavelogists’ group do not hide their concern about stagnation: “The issue of stagnation is very serious and in our opinion we need to draw the water and make an assessment of the damage caused by engineers. The underground pipeline in this third lake is in the worst condition we have seen,” Dimitris Theodosopoulos says. “Eshatia is a tributary of Kifissus starting at Parnitha. The stream is intact in Menidi, is settled at this time from Menidi to Attiki Street and has already been undergrounded since 2017, from Attiki Road to its contribution with Kephisos.” CORVERSE The group had to stop there, as the lake was impenetrable. “I estimate it has a depth of one to two meters and a length of at least 50-60 meters, so we couldn’t cross it. The lake has been created by the undercovering of the concrete floor, which appears to have been only 5–10 cm thick and a very thin iron grid, i.e. a misconstruction. I find it very worrying that the foundation stakes at a depth of 1-2 meters have been buried on the side walls. I don’t know how deep the foundations are, but I think they should be controlled”, adds Dimitris Theodosopoulos. Note that the first of the lakes was discovered by members of the same group in January 2023. It was found at the height of the footbridge of Perissos and Vikela Street in Patisia, immediately after the underground confluence of Kifisos with Podoniftis. n July 2023, the second lake was located under Kifisos at the height of Athens Avenue after entering from the area of Reddi and after walking 3.5 km below the National Road.
