King Charles was admitted to the hospital on Thursday (27/03/2025) after experiencing unwanted side effects related to his cancer treatment, Buckingham Palace announced. The king was discharged following a ‘short observation period’ regarding his cancer treatment but was forced to cancel several commitments scheduled for Birmingham on Friday (28/03/2025). According to a statement from Buckingham Palace: ‘Following ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, the king experienced temporary side effects requiring a brief hospital observation. As a result, His Majesty’s afternoon engagements have been postponed.’ ‘His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House and, as a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice, tomorrow’s schedule will also be rescheduled.’ The palace attempted to downplay the severity of the incident, with sources stating that the king’s ongoing recovery continues positively. Since returning to public duties last Easter, he has maintained a full schedule of events, including state visits to Australia and Samoa in October. The king was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in February following treatment for an enlarged prostate and has since been undergoing weekly therapy.
