Kim Yong Eun executed 30 government officials because they “failed to prevent” the killing floods in North Korea

It hurts head, cuts head… No doubt this is not the first time her leader has ordered the elimination of high-ranking officials for an alleged failure. Kim Yong Eun, according to a new South Korean report, may have ordered the execution of at least 30 government officials after the devastating summer floods, which caused thousands of people to die. South Korea television network TV Chosun broadcast Tuesday (03.09.2024) that North Korean authorities sentenced 20 to 30 people to death penalty last month for failing to halt the killing floods. An official reported to the agency: “Twenty to 30 executives in the area affected by flooding were executed simultaneously at the end of last month”. Although it is difficult to know the details given the extreme secrecy of the North, the Central North Korean News Agency (KCNA) reported that the North Korean leader ordered authorities to “punish strictly” officials after the devastating floods that hit the Changang province, near the border with China, last July, writes Fox News. North Korea’s state media reported that heavy rainfall in late July caused severe flooding with disasters in more than 4,000 houses, as well as many other public buildings, construction, roads and railway lines in the northwestern city of Sinuiju and the neighbouring city of Ouiju.
