Kerry to Trump: Keep up the action against climate change

O U.S. secretary of state John Kerry today spoke in favour of the continuation of the…
action of the USA against climate change, following the election of Donald Trump, whose positions on climate reflect skepticism.
While the newly elected president of the united states has been characterized as “a farce” the deregulation of the climate and has threatened to “cancel” the Paris agreement adopted in 2015 from 195 countries, Kerry said that most Americans want to implement measures against climate change.
“We will wait to see how the new government handles this issue, but I believe that we are well on the way and the Americans are convinced of this”, – stressed the head of the american diplomacy to reporters during a trip to New Zealand. “The Americans and the majority of them believe that climate change is taking place and they want to deal with the matter.”
Kerry said that he hopes that Trump will not implement its pre-election commitments for the abandonment of policies in favour of the environment implemented by the Washington. “The whole world knows that there is sometimes a difference between statements made during an election campaign, and the mode of governance. I think the next government will have to take a position on this issue”.
Kerry made these statements after he flew in a helicopter over Antarctica, and pointed out that the scientists working on the Antarctic showed the work carried out to demonstrate the effect of climate change.
“Until 20 January, the day of the official entry of the Trump in the White House, “we will make every effort to take care of our responsibilities towards future generations,” said Kerry, adding that he operates in favour of the protection of the environment from the beginning of the 1990s, and since then has seen clear evidence of climate change, which today has reached to an alarming level. “The evidence is growing in a way that is so obvious that the world should not accept anything not done”.
