“It’s a form of abuse, especially since I was a 30-year-old woman who had to face the massive power of newspapers, huge theaters, and renowned directors,” confessed Kerasia Samaraki. During her early career, she faced significant challenges from media outlets, theaters, and directors. In an interview on “Better Late” on Tuesday night (March 19, 2025), the acclaimed actress discussed this ‘war’ she endured. Samaraki explained that one form of abuse she experienced in her work was sycophancy from people either in the press or her colleagues. “There are many kinds of abuses. One type of abuse I experienced was sycophancy. It’s brutal because you’re not just dealing with someone’s physical presence but with an enormous entity made up of the media, journalists, some actors who believe they can control others and be dominant, and certain directors who cannot tolerate dissent,” Samaraki noted. She added, “It was a kind of abuse considering I was a 30-year-old woman confronting the immense power of newspapers, large theaters, and directors. It was somewhat tied to economic and class issues.”
