More than 400,000 workers are now covered by Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), following a wave of new sectoral agreements signed in recent months and extended to all employees within those sectors. CBAs form a cornerstone of the Ministry of Labour’s policy, with Minister Nikē Kerameos stating that the National Social Agreement is already delivering tangible results—boosting wages and expanding worker protections.

Speaking to the Athens News Agency-Macedonian Press Agency (ANA-MPA), Kerameos emphasized that strengthening collective bargaining remains a consistent priority for the ministry. Within just a few months, new agreements have been concluded offering improved salaries and working conditions—while also enhancing stability for businesses. She highlighted the growing recognition of Greece’s initiative at the European level and reaffirmed the government’s goal of steadily increasing the number of workers covered by collective labour regulations.

Which sectors have benefited?

According to ministry data, new CBAs have already been signed in six key sectors, with workers across these industries benefiting from the core improvements:

  • Tourism
  • Hospitality (food and beverage services)
  • Confectionery industry
  • Bakery industry
  • Food technologists and scientists

The ministry has extended these agreements so they apply universally to all workers in the respective sectors. In tourism and hospitality alone, the new CBA now covers over 400,000 employees.

Key changes in the new agreements

The new sectoral agreement for tourism and hospitality sets basic monthly salaries between €930 and €1,100, includes scheduled wage increases during its validity period, and introduces a range of allowances and bonuses—for seniority, Sunday and holiday work, and for specific categories of staff.

In the confectionery sector, the agreement foresees cumulative salary increases of up to 9.2% by 2028. Its extension broadens coverage from around 6,000 to approximately 23,000 workers.

A new CBA was also signed for food technologists and scientists—the first in 15 years—covering more than 2,500 employees and introducing both salary increases and new allowances.

New agreement at Piraeus Bank

A new Enterprise-level Collective Agreement has been announced for employees of Piraeus Bank. It sets a minimum monthly salary of €1,700, provides for salary increases of up to €305 over the three-year period 2027–2029, adds supplementary benefits worth €660 in total, and introduces new responsibility allowances alongside enhanced family support provisions.
