The draft law titled ‘National Social Agreement to Strengthen Collective Labour Agreements’ was presented on Wednesday (04.02.2026) to the Standing Committee on Social Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament by Labour and Social Security Minister Nikē Kerameos. She described it as a ‘historic institutional turning point’, achieved through consensus between the State and all national social partners. Kerameos emphasized that the agreement — signed approximately two months earlier between her ministry and all national social partners — aims to legally enshrine a landmark, cross-sectoral pact to reinforce collective bargaining. She stressed that this is not merely a government bill but a shared legislative initiative reflecting decades-long societal demand. Its significance, she noted, extends beyond labour relations: it affirms democracy’s functionality, the State’s role as a catalyst for consensus and guarantor of trust, and the power of authentic dialogue to drive development, stability, and social cohesion. The agreement transcends political parties and ideologies, representing a unified platform of state–society collaboration. Kerameos urged all parties to rise above partisan debate and act in the national interest — for workers, businesses, and the labour market alike.
