Kefalonia: Argostoli Left Without Power Due to Cruise Ship Damage

in

The center of Argostoli in Kefalonia, from the Square to Maisiatto, was left without power for several hours. Electricity supply issues were also reported in Lixouri. The cause? A cruise ship is believed to be responsible for damaging an underwater cable belonging to DEH (Public Power Corporation) in Kefalonia. A diver assessed the extent of the damage in the area. By 5:30 PM, DEDDHE teams managed to provide alternative power supply to Argostoli, temporarily restoring electricity to the city after a prolonged outage. However, the serious damage to the underwater cable, likely caused by the anchor of the cruise ship, requires specialized intervention. Restoration works are expected to last several days. For now, power is being supplied via bypass while DEDDHE closely monitors the situation.
