Katerina Lioliou on ‘Dithesio’: ‘I sang it from my soul, I don’t know what bothered them so much’

Exclusively in Faii Skorda and the ‘Buongiorno’ show on Mega, singer Katerina Lioliou spoke about her artistic journey. Although she became widely known through The Voice, she revealed that she started engaging with music from a young age and began performing professionally at 14 as part of Schoolwave with her own band. “Before releasing more famous songs, I worked for 8 years opening shows for well-known artists,” she initially mentioned. Notable collaborations include those with Nikos Vertis and Antonis Remos. She also discussed her parents’ divorce and her studies at ATEI Thessaloniki, sharing how she always dreamed of being on stage. Regarding Eurovision participation, she stated: “I don’t think I can fully meet the competition’s demands. I’m not a great dancer.” She further explained her relationship dynamics and her long-term psychoanalysis since the age of 17. Addressing criticism over her stage presence, she said: “I don’t feel like my body posture offends anyone; my costumes are work attire.” On interpreting Alkisti Protopsalti’s ‘Dithesio,’ which sparked social media reactions, she expressed: “It was a moment. I sang it from my soul, and I don’t know what bothered them so much. I deeply admire Alkisti and study her work.”
