Kate Middleton and Prince William Won’t Attend 2025 BAFTA Awards Due to Family Reasons

Kate Middleton and Prince William will not attend the 2025 BAFTA Awards ceremony, which is set to take place on Sunday, February 16th, disappointing their fans. Kensington Palace confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will not be present at the event. According to royal correspondent Kate Mansey from The Times, the couple decided not to attend because the event coincides with their children’s school holidays—George, Charlotte, and Louis—and family always comes first for them. Prince William, who has been the President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts since 2010, will instead deliver a video message during the ceremony. Last year, when Kate was undergoing chemotherapy for cancer, William attended alone, apologizing for her absence by saying, “I’m sorry Katherine isn’t here. She really loves BAFTA.” The couple previously attended in 2023 and 2020 but missed the 2021 event due to Prince Philip’s passing. This year’s ceremony will be hosted by David Tennant, featuring films like ‘Conclave’ leading with 12 nominations.
