Kasselakis Withdraws Signatures from SYRIZA’s Pre-Trial Committee Proposal

The saga surrounding the collection of signatures to form a pre-trial committee investigating the Tempi crime took a dramatic turn. Earlier today (05/06/25), Stephanos Kasselakis announced that MPs aligned with his party were withdrawing their signatures from SYRIZA’s proposal. These signatures are reportedly being transferred to an application submitted by the victims’ relatives, as publicized by Maria Karystianou. The move sparked controversy, prompting the Conference of Presidents of Parliament to convene and ultimately decide that signatures could indeed be withdrawn. Sources within SYRIZA responded, stating: ‘SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance and its parliamentary group officially submitted their proposal for the formation of a pre-trial examination committee on Saturday with all 26 of its MPs, aiming to investigate potential crimes related to the Tempi incident and any cover-up attempts, regardless of rank.’ They emphasized that their proposal is fully documented based on legal evidence and criticized Kasselakis, asserting: ‘No political games should be played regarding the Tempi crime. Accountability and truth must prevail.’
