Kanter Freedom will remain with Panathinaikos until 2028, signing a contract worth €13.5 million, making him the highest-paid player in Europe. Shortly after the announcement, his wife posted an Instagram story congratulating her husband and mentioned their plans to learn Greek, as they will be staying in the country until 2028! ‘Congratulations to my baby for the extension. You deserved it. Three more years, we need to start learning Greek now,’ she wrote, sharing a related photo. Fans of Panathinaikos have another reason to celebrate: the NBA out clause is no longer part of Kanter’s contract. This means that if an NBA team expresses interest, Panathinaikos will have the final say in negotiations. With his new lucrative deal, Kanter will earn €4.5 million annually, excluding bonuses. He contributed significantly to Panathinaikos’ Euroleague and Greek league championships in the 2023-24 season, proving to be a pivotal player. In this season’s Euroleague, Kanter averages 20.3 points per game, leading the competition after 32 competitive games.
