Intensive investigations are underway by Greek police into the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old boy in Kallithea, Athens. Authorities are also searching for additional young suspects believed to be involved in the violent clash and remain at large.

Rival Youth Groups Clashed Over Control of Local Square

According to reports, two youth groups had been locked in a long-standing rivalry over control of a specific square in Kallithea. Tensions escalated as each group sought dominance—attempting to assert superiority over the other—culminating in the tragic murder.

Seven Arrested, One Charged with Homicide

To date, authorities have arrested seven individuals, charged with drug possession and participation in the violent incident. A 17-year-old suspect has been formally charged with homicide after admitting he fatally stabbed the teenager. He reportedly discarded the murder weapon—a knife—which remains missing.

The suspect later went to a private residence with others, where he was located and arrested by police. He now faces prosecution for homicide and is expected to appear before a prosecutor and investigating magistrate.

Ten More Persons Under Investigation

At least ten more individuals are currently under scrutiny, as emerging evidence and witness accounts appear to link them to the incident. Preliminary findings indicate that two groups of youths—aged 15 to 20—clashed for reasons still unknown, though investigators note pre-existing tensions among some members.

Authorities have effectively ruled out fan-related motives, despite one suspect wearing a shirt bearing the logo of a major football club. Police assessed early on that the case is unrelated to organized fan violence, even if certain surface-level similarities existed.

Background of the Victim

The victim, who lived in Kifissia but frequently spent time in Kallithea, reportedly associated with organized football fans. He had previously been assaulted in February and had been arrested twice within the past year for weapons-related offences.

Police sources confirm that tensions among underage groups in Kallithea have persisted for some time, with recurring incidents of violence—many unreported—and escalating rivalries amplified through social media.
