Kalambaka: Lamentation at the funeral of the 55-year-old hotelier – The coroner’s assessment of his death

Mourning in the tragic incident with the fire on Monday morning (30/12/2024) that led to the death of its 55-year-old owner. Today on the last day of the year (31/12/2024) relatives and friends in distress accompanied the 55-year-old owner of the hotel in Kalambaka to his last residence. CORVERSE Under normal conditions the climate in Kalambaka would be festive, since the area is teeming with life, a total of 10,000 visitors have flooded the tourist accommodation. New Year’s Eve, however, the permanent residents waved to St. Bessarian’s Holy Temple a man of their own, the owner of the hotel, who in his effort not to be trapped in flames, lost his life. The forensic findings The coroner reportedly detected no fall injuries, but no burns. It’s possible that the death of the 55-year-old hotel owner came from carbon monoxide poisoning. However, further clarification in the exact circumstances of death will be given by the tox screens. CORVERSE Two persons will be discharged A matter of time was considered the exit from the General Hospital of Trikala for two minors – of the total ten nurses – whose discharges have been prepared. At the appropriate sources, their parents will be discharged within hours. According to what Michael Giannakos said, the president of the Panhellenic Federation of Workers Public Hospitals will take two people today (31.12.2024) and the rest, four adults and four children, will continue to be treated. “The 10 people transported from the hotel to Kalambaka who broke out on fire to Trikala hospital remain for hospitalization. 6 adults are treated in the pathological clinic and 4 children in the paediatric clinic with respiratory problems. Everybody out of danger. Two patients from the pathological clinic are expected to be discharged today. The rest are heavier and will remain for hospitalization. They went to the Trikala resorts for New Year’s Eve and will finally celebrate New Year’s in a hospital bed. Our health system has responded successfully once again. Attention from all and stricter controls by the audit authorities on the infrastructure of the country’s accommodation”, were the words of Michael Giannakos. From trouble in the boiler the fire in the hotel The hotel fire was caused by a boiler problem after a short circuit. Firefighting forces arrived immediately and their first concern was the release of the tenants among whom many children were. One of the people who found the hotel owner in Kalambaka fallen gave revealing details. “With my brother I was when I found the 55-year-old hotelier down. He probably tried to get out the window because he was trapped inside and breathing. He slipped out and fell. When we arrived he was still slightly conscious. He blinked, but he had no blows or anything. Doesn’t seem to have jumped like they say. It was low. He probably died of a heart attack from respiratory problems.”
