Kalambaka: In the hospital with respiratory problems there are 10 people left after the hotel fire

The ultimate nightmare was experienced by residents in its center when yesterday (31.12.2024) this morning in the building a fire broke out. From the fire at the hotel in Kalambaka the 55-year-old owner of the business lost his life when in his attempt to escape the flames he jumped off the first floor. ADVERSE Immediately a large business was set up and 10 people are hospitalized in Trikala hospital, including minors with respiratory problems. Speaking at MEGA, the commander of the hospital Trikala, Kostas Gregoriou, referred to the situation of the hotel’s residents who were burned in Kalambaka and who are being hospitalized. “The year for Trikala ends in no good way with the tragic event in Kalambaka. Our hospital got ready as soon as the incident became known. With EMCDDA ambulances 10 hotel residents were taken to hospital. After the exam they are treated in good condition. These are 4 children and 6 adults. They present respiratory problems due to soot poisoning. Doctors will decide about the discharge.” CORVERSE Shortly after 7 a.m. Monday morning, the hotel was set on fire, probably by short circuit. The hotel’s air conditioner appears to have been on fire, resulting in the fire expanding very soon. A total of 26 people were released with the help of the Fire Department and 10 people had to be taken to the hospital with respiratory problems in order to provide them with first aid. Concerning the death of the 55-year-old, opinions differ, as the investigation is ongoing. One estimate is that the 55-year-old jumped to the roof of the ground floor in order to reach the hotel reception and from where the fire started – according to what the victim’s sister said she reported to have located the fire at the accommodation. Moreover, there is the assumption that the victim was scared and jumped, or jumped as the smokes prevented him from arriving earlier at reception.
