Mourinho has filed a lawsuit against Galatasaray following accusations from the Turkish Superlig leaders regarding alleged racist comments, as announced on Friday (2/28) by Fenerbahçe. Fenerbahçe reported that José Mourinho sued Galatasaray for 1.907.000 Turkish Liras (50,200 Euros) due to an ‘attack on personal rights’ of the Portuguese coach. This lawsuit by the ‘Special One’ was the latest episode in the tension that followed the derby in Istanbul on Monday (2/24) between the two clubs. After the match, which ended in a 0-0 draw, Galatasaray accused Mourinho of racist remarks and stated they would pursue criminal charges against the Portuguese coach. Mourinho mentioned in the press conference after the game that the home bench was ‘jumping like monkeys’ and that the match would have been… a disaster if there had been a Turkish referee in charge. Mourinho received a four-match ban from the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) for his comments, noting that he ‘used derogatory and offensive statements and allegations about chaos in Turkish football.’ In communication with Reuters, a representative of Galatasaray emphasized that they have already filed a lawsuit against Mourinho without further comment.
