Italy Shaken by the Brutal Murder of 14-Year-Old Martina Carbonaro by Her Ex-Boyfriend

A 14-year-old girl with dreams and her whole life ahead of her was brutally murdered by the person who claimed to love her. On Monday evening (May 26, 2025), Martina Carbonaro from Afragola near Naples left her house saying she was going for ice cream with a friend. She later planned to meet her ex-boyfriend but never returned home. The next day, her lifeless body was found in a closet inside an abandoned building near the former ‘Moccia’ field in Afragola, Naples province. The perpetrator, unable to accept their breakup, wanted her for himself. This is yet another tragic case in the endless chain of violence against women, this time involving a mere 14-year-old victim. Italy is shocked by another horrifying femicide. Martina Carbonaro had disappeared on Monday afternoon, sparking widespread concern about her whereabouts. Her mother called her around 9:00 PM, and Martina said she would return soon. However, she never came back. The mother reported her disappearance the following morning at 6 AM, stating that her daughter had left to meet a friend and then vanished. Police investigations led them to find her lifeless body in the abandoned apartment of the former sports center supervisor, close to the Moccia stadium, a location that hadn’t been used for some time. The interrogation of the 19-year-old suspect intensified police searches in the area after inconsistencies emerged during questioning. Security cameras also recorded Martina’s last sighting near the ‘I Pini’ shopping center, where she was seen on a scooter with a young man. Alessio Tutsi, Martina’s 19-year-old ex-boyfriend, confessed to the murder after police pressure, as he was captured on security cameras near the crime scene. During his confession, he admitted: ‘Yes, it’s true. I killed her. I hit her with a rock.’ Tutsi, a casual construction worker, had maintained a relationship with Martina for two years, starting when she was just 12. Despite their recent breakup initiated by Martina, the 19-year-old could not accept its end and committed the heinous act. After the crime, he participated in the search efforts as if nothing had happened, pretending to be concerned alongside Martina’s family. Neighbors recounted seeing him actively searching for her with her parents on the night of her disappearance. However, the truth came to light when police discovered surveillance footage showing him near the spot where Martina’s body was found. He confessed to hitting her with a rock, hiding her body in an old closet within the abandoned room, turning it over, and covering it with useless items and mattresses in an attempt to conceal his crime.
