A 47-year-old man has died while working under the sun near the city of Bologna on Monday (30.06.2025). He was at a construction site for a school building and felt unwell shortly after noon, when temperatures were extremely high. The unfortunate man, who had migrated to Italy from Morocco and was named Ait El Azam Brahim, as reported by the Italian union ‘Cgil’, is the first person to die from the current heatwave in the country.

In northern Italy, temperatures have surpassed 35°C, while in central regions and the south they are expected to reach up to 38°C. Only in the Alpine areas are rains forecasted, which may extend to Piedmont and Lombardy.

In Milan, the president of the Lombardy region, Attilio Fontana, signed a decree effective from Tuesday (01.07.2025), linked to the ongoing heatwave. Until mid-September, during days when the alert level remains at ‘red,’ outdoor work in agricultural businesses and construction sites will be prohibited from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM. This restriction will not apply to public services or workers operating under difficult conditions for the country’s Civil Protection Department.
