Italian fashion designer Rosita died. Half at the age of 93

She died today (02.01.02025) Italian Rosita Mishani, co-founder of the same-named house, famous for its vivid and intense style patterns, at the age of 93. Fashion designer, Rosita Mishani, founded the company in 1953 along with her husband Otavio Mishani, developing a firm that became popular for its colorful knit with geometric shapes and stripes, including the famous zigzag pattern of fiammato. ADVERSE Born in a textile artisan family, near the town of Varese, in northern Italy, Rosita studied modern languages. During a trip to London in 1948 in order to improve her English, she met Otavio, who participated in the 400 metres team with Italy’s obstacles to the Olympics in the city. The Missoni fashion house won international recognition and won awards for its own private designs, the pioneering use of fabrics and an approach to fashion often compared to modern art. CORVERSE He starred in the news and with the so-called “brace of bras” in 1967. The Misani were to perform a fashion show at the Pitti Palace in Florence, but before the models went out on the runway Rosita noticed that their bras appeared through their blouses, destroying the desired color and pattern. He told the models to take off their bras, but under the runway lights, their ensembles became completely transparent and the incident caused a stir. The following year the house was not invited to participate, but Missoni was already on the covers of major fashion magazines, such as Vogue, Elle the Marie Claire. When the company moved its headquarters to the Italian city of Sumirago, north of Milan, the Misani moved right next door, with most windows of their house overlooking the favorite mountain of Rosita, Mount Monte Rosa. Rosita remained artistic director for women’s collections until the late 1990s, when she granted her place to Angela’s daughter. A tragedy shocked the family in 2013, when Vittorio Misoni, the biggest son of the couple and director of marketing the company was killed in a plane crash, off the coast of Venezuela. Otavio died in May 2013 at the age of 92, four months after their son’s plane disappeared, but before the debris was detected. The company expanded to collections for the house and hotels. In 2018 the Italian investment fund FSI invested 70m euros in the company in exchange for a 41% stake in order to strengthen the brand abroad.
