A group linked to Israel claims to have carried out a cyberattack on an Iranian cryptocurrency exchange. Known as Gonjeshke Darande or the “thieving magpie,” the hackers reportedly targeted Iran’s Nobitex cryptocurrency exchange just one day after breaching the systems of Iran’s Sepah Bank. The group announced plans to “publish the source code and internal information of Nobitex from its internal network” within 24 hours. They warned, “Any assets remaining there after this point will be at risk!” The group accused Nobitex of being central to the regime’s efforts to fund global terrorism while serving as a tool to bypass sanctions. Additionally, the team stated that Nobitex openly provides users with instructions on how to use its infrastructure to evade sanctions. Yesterday, the group claimed responsibility for hacking Iran’s Sepah Bank, with social media reports indicating that the bank’s services were unavailable following the breach.
