Israel threatens with escalation of Gaza bombings if Hamas continues the rocket war

He threatened it today (01/01/2025) that it would increase the intensity of the bombings in Gaza if it did not stop rocket attacks. Israel’s bombings in Gaza killed at least 25 people on New Year’s Eve while sending a message to Hamas to return the prisoners and stop the rocket war. CORVERSE Israeli Defence Minister Israel Kats, on the margins of a visit to Netivot, an Israeli city recently targeted by rockets from the Gaza Strip, wanted to “send a clear message” to the Palestinian Islamist Hamas movement. “If Hamas does not soon allow the release of Israeli hostages detained in Gaza (…) and continues to launch missiles to an Israeli population, Hamas exposes itself to severe blows Gaza has not seen in a long time,” the Israeli minister threatened. In recent days the Israeli authorities have reported a series of rocket launch attacks by the Palestinian enclave, confirming that all of these were either intercepted, or fell into uninhabited areas, without causing injuries. CORVERSE According to the Gaza Strip’s Civil Protection, three separate Israeli raids from the early morning hours of the day have, however, caused at least 25 victims in the Palestinian coastal strip. “As the world celebrates the new year, we welcome in 2025 with the first Israeli massacre in the Gaza Strip,” the representative of Civil Protection, Mahmoud Basal reported to the French Agency. The watch showed near midnight when Israeli air raids on al-Burage refugee camp and the city of Jabalia in downtown and northern Gaza strip killed at least 17 Palestinians, according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA. Israeli armed forces have not so far commented but an entry in the X of their Arab-speaking representative who earlier warned al-Burage residents to evacuate the area as a blow was imminent against militants firing from there rockets. The Israeli army intensified its land and air attack on the northern part of the Gaza Strip from 6 October 2024, to prevent the regrouping of Hamas military arm units. The war broke out with an unprecedented attack on Hamas’ military arm in southern areas of Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, during which 1,208 people died on the Israeli side, in their majority civilians, according to a tally of the French Agency based on official data from the Israeli authorities. Over 45,553 Palestinians died in the large-scale Israeli military retaliation operations in the Gaza Strip that followed, in the majority of civilians, according to data from the Hamas Ministry of Health in the Palestinian enclave, identified as reliable by the UN.
