Israel temporarily recalled its ambassador to the UN – “port” v Guterres

His foreign minister announced today the ambassador’s recall to Gilad Erdan for consultations. Israel accuses the UN of trying to silence the rape report Israel says committed Hamas militants during the October 7th attack on Israeli territory. “I ordered our ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan to return to Israel for urgent consultations on the attempt to silence the serious UN report on mass rape committed by Hamas and its accomplices on October 7,” says Israel Kats in his post on the X platform (former Twitter). Israel’s Foreign Minister criticised UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres for not calling the Security Council to examine the findings of the report and describing Hamas as a “terrorist organisation”. The United Nations “it took five months to finally recognise the heinous sexual crimes committed during Hamas’s 7 October attack,” Israel Kats also said, denouncing the “shameless silence” about the findings of the report.
