The Ministry of Justice today published him (17.01.2025) a list of certain names of prisoners to be traded for hostages under the Hamas deal for a truce in the Gaza Strip. Israel’s media reported that 95 names of prisoners appear on this list, mainly women and children, to be released after 4 pm (local time) on Sunday (19.01.2025) as foreseen by the first phase of the agreement with Hamas. CORVERSE At the same time, the competent authorities of Israel have taken steps to “prevent any public display of joy ” in releasing Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons. “ Israel’s Correctional Service is preparing (…) for the release of Palestinian prisoners ” under the terms of this agreement, the Service announced. The Israeli ban The announcement emphasises that prisoners released in the first phase of exchange , which will last 42 days starting on Sunday , will be transferred before their release , some in the benefit prison on the occupied West Bank and the rest at the detention centre Sikhma in the city of Askelon in southern Israel.
