Israel Launches Major Attack on Iran’s Bandar Abbas Port – Explosions Reported in Tehran

In a significant escalation of hostilities, Israel launched a major attack on the Bandar Abbas port in Iran during the night of Saturday, June 21, 2025. The strikes, which have been ongoing since June 13, initially targeted central and western regions of Iran but have now expanded to include key port facilities. The Israeli military stated that it is currently targeting drone storage facilities and weapon systems installations in the Bandar Abbas area, marking a geographical expansion of the conflict. Additionally, powerful explosions were reported in the center and northern areas of Tehran on the ninth day of clashes between Israel and Iran. It remains unclear whether these explosions were caused by Israeli strikes or fires from Iran’s air defense systems. Iranian media also reported that Israel struck the southern city of Shiraz, activating its air defense systems. According to Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization chief, Mohammad Eslami, the Arak reactor, which was hit by an Israeli attack, served medical and health purposes. Despite this, the Israeli military announced that it had struck dozens of targets in Iran, including a partially completed nuclear reactor at Arak.
