Israel Intercepts Houthi Missile – ‘Perhaps B-2 Bombers Should Visit Yemen’

On Tuesday night (01.07.2025), Israel intercepted a missile launched by Yemen’s Houthi group, escalating regional tensions. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned of potential strikes against the Iran-backed militants. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that a ballistic missile fired from Yemen was successfully intercepted over Israeli airspace. Sirens blared across much of the country, including parts of Jerusalem, Ben Gurion Airport, and several settlements in the West Bank, as air defense systems worked to neutralize the threat. Following the attack, Minister Katz issued a direct threat to the Houthi rebels, writing on X (formerly Twitter): ‘Yemen will be treated like Tehran. After we struck the head of the snake in Tehran, we will strike the Houthis in Yemen.’ He added, ‘Whoever raises their hand against Israel—this hand will be cut off.’ U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee further intensified the rhetoric, suggesting that American B-2 bombers might need to visit Yemen—a reference to recent U.S.-led strikes on Iranian nuclear sites during the 12-day war with Israel. Meanwhile, former President Trump recently announced a deal with the Houthis under which the U.S. would halt attacks in exchange for an end to raids on American ships in the Red Sea.
