Israel Bombed Iranian Refueling Aircraft at Mashhad Airport

The Israeli military announced today (June 15, 2025), around 18:30 Greek time, that it carried out an airstrike on Mashhad Airport in Iran’s third-largest city, located in the northeastern part of the country. According to Israeli state media, there was no damage to airport buildings or the runway following the attack. However, some Iranian news outlets reported an attack east of Mashhad. The IDF stated that the Israeli Air Force bombed an Iranian refueling aircraft at Mashhad Airport in northeastern Iran, approximately 2,300 kilometers from Israel. This marks the most distant strike since the beginning of Israel’s operations. A large fire was seen at Mashhad Airport following the alleged Israeli airstrike, as per reports in Iran. The Israeli Air Force aims to achieve air superiority over all of Iran’s airspace, according to the Israeli military.
