Israel accuses Hezbollah of not respecting the terms of the truce agreement

Israel’s Defence Minister Kats accused Lebanon today (05/01/2026) of not respecting the terms of the ceasefire agreement and warned that his country could be “forced to act”. Kats argued that Hezbollah fighters have not withdrawn north of the Litani River, in southern Lebanon, about 30 kilometres from the border with Israel. ADVERSION “If this condition is not fulfilled, there will be no agreement and Israel will be forced to act unilaterally to guarantee the return with all safety of the inhabitants of northern Israel to their homes,” he completed. The truce agreement entered into force on 27 November, two months after the war between Israel and Hezbollah. On the basis of the text, the Lebanese army and the UN’s Kyanocrani must develop in the southern part of Lebanon and the Israeli army withdraw within 60 days. CORVERSE It also envisages the withdrawal of Hezbollah up to about 30 km from the Israeli border. Since the start of the truce, both sides have been accused of repeated violations of it. “The first condition for the implementation of the agreement is the complete withdrawal of the Hezbollah terrorist organisation (to the north) of the Litani River, the destruction of all weapons and the dissolution of all terrorist infrastructure in the region by the Lebanese army, which has not yet been done,” Kats said.
