The SITE Intelligence Group, a center specializing in monitoring extremist Islamist activities online, stated that this marks the first attack where IS has taken responsibility against the new Syrian government forces. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based NGO with extensive sources inside Syria, one person was killed and three soldiers were injured when a patrol vehicle hit a remotely detonated mine on Wednesday (May 28, 2025).
