Irish police are investigating the murder of 43-year-old Jamie Carney, who was found dead in her home after being brutally beaten to death. Her body was discovered beneath a blanket in her bedroom, which was covered in blood. She had suffered fatal head injuries consistent with a violent assault.

Discovery and Timeline

Carney, originally from New York, was found dead in her bed on the afternoon of Tuesday, 7 July 2026, by her 13-year-old daughter.

Main Suspect

The primary suspect is her 28-year-old partner, Ahmad Al-Saquer, a migrant who arrived in Ireland in 2024 and applied for asylum. According to Irish police, Carney met Al-Saquer at a pro-Palestinian demonstration.

Flight from Ireland

Al-Saquer reportedly boarded a bus to Dublin early on the same Tuesday — before Carney’s death was discovered — and then took a flight from Dublin to Istanbul. Authorities are now examining his possible contacts in Turkey and France, where he lived previously. Investigators are also considering whether his ultimate destination may have been Syria or Jordan.

Background

Al-Saquer is believed to have also lived in the United Kingdom before moving to Dublin.
