In a sharp rebuke to new threats from former U.S. President Donald Trump, Iran’s Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf declared that Tehran will not yield to Washington’s pressure. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ghalibaf stated that Trump’s threats and coercive tactics have failed to achieve their intended effect — and that Washington’s reliance on intimidation reflects weakness, not strength.
‘We Don’t Factor in U.S. Threats’
“If their threats had worked, they wouldn’t have reached the point they’re at today. We don’t factor in American threats,” Ghalibaf wrote, underscoring Iran’s resolve.
He went further, warning that Iran’s armed forces are fully prepared for any scenario and possess multiple response options. “They’d do well to be careful with their statements. Our armed forces are ready to respond — in different ways. Whatever they say, we are the ones who will act,” he emphasized.
Heightened Tensions Amid Ongoing Diplomacy
These remarks come amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States, even as diplomatic channels remain open in efforts to de-escalate regional crises — particularly in the Middle East. While formal negotiations continue, public statements from officials on both sides reveal persistent friction and deep mutual distrust.
Ghalibaf’s latest intervention reinforces an atmosphere of reciprocal warnings that has intensified over the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, international actors continue working to keep communication lines open and prevent further deterioration.
