An Iranian delegation arrived in Switzerland late on Thursday, June 20, 2026, for negotiations with the United States aimed at implementing a recently reached understanding intended to end hostilities in the Middle East, according to the Swiss government in Bern.

‘We welcome the arrival of the Iranian delegation to Switzerland,’ stated the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in a post on X (formerly Twitter), adding that the talks are taking place ‘within the framework of implementing the memorandum of understanding’ signed by the U.S. and Iran.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a warning to Washington, stressing that the agreement’s protocol ‘is at risk’ unless its provisions are swiftly implemented—particularly as Israeli forces continue military operations in southern Lebanon. ‘The other side must take necessary measures as soon as possible; otherwise, the entire agreement protocol will be jeopardized,’ said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, as reported by the state-run IRNA news agency.

The U.S.–Iran memorandum includes, among other provisions, an agreed cessation of hostilities in Lebanon. On Sunday, June 21, 2026, technical-level talks between American and Iranian officials are scheduled to take place in Switzerland. Representatives from Pakistan and Qatar will also attend, serving in a mediation capacity.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry confirmed the Sunday meeting, describing it as a ‘technical-level dialogue’ focused on implementing the U.S.–Iran agreement to help bring the broader Middle East conflict to a close.
